Your first stop will be the magnificent Pink City, Jaipur. The city showcases elegant architecture in a unique pink hue. Founded in 1727 by the then Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II, Jaipur is known as one of the best-planned cities of its time.
The capital of Rajasthan, Jaipur is primarily known for its musicians, handicrafts, and artisans. Today, it is famous for its fine jewelry, varied textiles, and sumptuous cuisine.
Day 3 – Friday: Sawai Madhopur/Chittorgarh, The Pride of Mewar
After exquisite architectural monuments, the perfect place to experience the other side of royal charm is Sawai Madhopur. Named after its king, Maharaja Sawai Madho Singh I, it is located near the famous Ranthambore National Park.
This wildlife park is home to various animal species, with the powerful tigers being the most notable. The forest also houses the ruins of an ancient 10th-century fort. Chittorgarh, the land of glory and valor, will surely leave you enchanted. With its intriguing and fascinating history, Chittorgarh holds a special place in the hearts of the Rajputs, as it was once the stronghold of the clan at a time when all other forts had succumbed to invasion.
Day 4 – Saturday: Udaipur, Romance on Water
Udaipur, a land of marvelous beauty, is named after Rana Udai Singh, the dynamic ruler of this princely state. Known as the City of Lakes, Udaipur has a long and glorious history and is also considered the romantic city of Rajasthan, thanks to the endless love sagas of its rulers.
Delight in its history and architectural splendor, and return with a variety of exquisite souvenirs.
Day 5 – Sunday: The Golden City
The day unfolds in the heart of the Thar Desert, Jaisalmer, the Golden City of India. Jaisalmer is named after its founder Rawal Jaisal and means “The Fort of the Hill of Jaisal,” established in 1156.
The bustling city is filled with rustic beauty, and the yellowish tone of the sand justifies the name given to the monochromatic landscape. The once-prosperous havelis, balconies, cornices, and intricately carved facades adorn the city and have made it an architectural delight.
Day 6 – Monday: Jodhpur, The Blue City
Jodhpur, the land of majestic and mystical glory, welcomes you warmly. Currently, Jodhpur, the second-largest city in Rajasthan, was established in 1459 by Rao Jodha, a Rajput king.
The magic of imperial life still lives on in the various forts and palaces scattered throughout the city. In this royal paradise, also known as the Blue City due to its indigo hue, even the most common houses have exquisite masonry, tracery, and intricately carved lattice windows.
Day 7 – Tuesday: Agra, Bird Sanctuary and Taj Mahal
Founded in the 17th century by Maharaja Suraj Mal, Bharatpur was once an invincible and well-fortified city. Rightly called the Iron Fort, its severe military construction helped combat many foreign sieges. Bharatpur is near Keoladeo Ghana National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The region attracts a wide variety of birds like the Siberian Crane, storks, herons, kingfishers, partridges, and bee-eaters, some of which migrate from different parts of the world.
Agra is situated on the banks of the Yamuna River and was founded in 1504 by the then ruler of Delhi, Sultan Sikandar Lodi. The city is home to one of the Seven Wonders of the World, the Taj Mahal. It is one of the most visited sites in India.
