Day 01:        ARRIVAL KOLKATA
Assistance upon arrival at Kolkata Airport and transfer to the hotel. Kolkata, formerly known as Calcutta, is the capital of West Bengal and one of India’s most culturally and historically significant cities. Often referred to as the “City of Joy,” Kolkata is renowned for its colonial architecture, literature, art, music, cuisine, and vibrant cultural heritage.

Upon arrival, check in at the hotel. The standard check-in time is 1400 hrs. The remainder of the day is at leisure to relax after the journey.

Day 02:        KOLKATA – FULL DAY CITY TOUR
After breakfast, proceed for a full-day sightseeing tour of Kolkata, exploring the city’s colonial heritage, religious landmarks, cultural institutions, and vibrant local life.

Begin with Dalhousie Square (B.B.D. Bagh), the historic administrative heart of British-era Kolkata. The area is surrounded by magnificent colonial buildings and important landmarks, including Raj Bhavan, St. John’s Church, Calcutta High Court, General Post Office (GPO), Town Hall, Writers’ Building, and other heritage structures. This area provides an excellent introduction to Kolkata’s rich colonial history and architectural legacy.

Continue to the iconic Howrah Bridge, one of Kolkata’s most recognizable landmarks and an important engineering achievement. Enjoy views of the Hooghly River and observe the constant movement of pedestrians, vehicles, and local life across this historic bridge.

Proceed to the nearby Mullick Ghat Flower Market, one of the city’s most colourful and vibrant markets. The market is particularly lively in the early hours and is known for its enormous variety of flowers used for religious offerings, weddings, and other ceremonies.

Continue to St. Paul’s Cathedral, an impressive Gothic-style Anglican cathedral known for its beautiful stained-glass windows, elegant interiors, and peaceful surroundings.

Thereafter visit the magnificent Victoria Memorial, one of Kolkata’s most iconic monuments. Built in white Makrana marble and surrounded by extensive gardens, the memorial houses a museum containing paintings, historical documents, sculptures, and artefacts associated with India’s colonial period. (Closed on Mondays)

Later visit the Indian Museum, established in 1814 and one of the oldest and most important museums in India. Its extensive collections include archaeological artefacts, sculptures, fossils, coins, manuscripts, paintings, and objects representing India’s rich cultural and natural heritage. (Closed on Mondays) Continue to Mother House, the headquarters of the Missionaries of Charity and closely associated with the life and work of Mother Teresa. Visit her tomb and the small museum displaying photographs and memorabilia relating to her life and humanitarian service. (Closed on Thursdays.)

If time permits, drive through Park Street, one of Kolkata’s most famous avenues, known for its restaurants, colonial-era buildings, cafés, and lively atmosphere.

Day 03:        KOLKATA – GUWAHATI BY FLIGHT 6E 212 – 0900/1015 hrs

GUWAHATI – SHILLONG BY SURFACE – 100 km /4 hrs.
Early morning breakfast at the hotel and check out. In time, transfer to Kolkata Airport to board the flight to Guwahati.

Arrival at Guwahati Airport at approximately 1015 hrs. Meet and assist upon arrival and proceed towards Shillong, the picturesque capital of Meghalaya, popularly known as the “Scotland of the East.”

En route, visit Umiam Lake, a beautiful man-made reservoir surrounded by rolling green hills. The lake offers excellent panoramic views and is one of the most scenic attractions on the route to Shillong.

Continue the drive to Shillong. Upon arrival, check in at the hotel.

Later, depending on arrival time, visit Shillong Golf Course, one of the oldest and most scenic natural golf courses in India, set amidst beautiful pine-covered hills.

Visit Shillong Cathedral (Cathedral of Mary Help of Christians), one of the most prominent churches in the city, known for its elegant architecture and peaceful surroundings.

In the evening, explore Police Bazaar, the commercial heart of Shillong, offering opportunities to experience local shopping, cafés, restaurants, handicrafts, and the lively atmosphere of the city. Overnight at the hotel in Shillong.

Day 04:        SHILLONG – FULL-DAY CITY TOUR
After breakfast, proceed for a full-day sightseeing tour of Shillong.

Begin with Ward’s Lake, a picturesque artificial lake surrounded by landscaped gardens and walking paths. Enjoy a leisurely stroll around the lake and admire its peaceful surroundings.

Continue to Lady Hydari Park, one of Shillong’s popular green spaces, featuring beautifully landscaped gardens and a variety of flowers and plants.

Visit Elephant Falls, one of the most popular waterfalls near Shillong. A series of cascading streams flows through the rocky landscape, making it an attractive spot for photography.

Thereafter visit the Don Bosco Museum, one of the finest museums showcasing the indigenous cultures and traditions of Northeast India. The museum presents an extensive collection of artefacts, costumes, weapons, crafts, photographs, and information about the different tribal communities of the region.

Later, explore Shillong’s local markets, where visitors can see local handicrafts, traditional products, clothing, and regional food items.

Day 05:        SHILLONG – JOWAI EXCURSION – SHILLONG

Approx. 150–170 km round trip / Full day
After breakfast, proceed for a full-day excursion towards Jowai, the headquarters of the Jaintia Hills.

En route, visit Laitlum Canyon, one of Meghalaya’s most spectacular viewpoints. The canyon offers dramatic panoramic views of deep valleys, rolling hills, and surrounding villages. A short walk may be required to reach the main viewpoint, and the visit is weather-dependent.

Continue towards Nartiang, famous for the remarkable Nartiang Monoliths, a collection of ancient stone pillars believed to have been erected by the Jaintia rulers. These monoliths are an important testimony to the history and traditions of the Jaintia Kingdom.

Also visit the historic Nartiang Durga Temple, traditionally believed to be around 500 years old and associated with the Jaintia royal family. It is regarded as an important Shakti shrine in the region.

Continue to Krang Suri Falls, one of Meghalaya’s most beautiful waterfalls, known for its turquoise-blue waters surrounded by lush greenery. Enjoy the scenic surroundings and photography. Later drive back to Shillong. Overnight at the hotel in Shillong.

Day 06:        SHILLONG – MAWPHLANG SACRED FOREST – MAWSYNRAM – SHILLONG

Full-day excursion
After breakfast, proceed for a full-day excursion to Mawphlang Sacred Forest and Mawsynram. Begin with a visit to the Mawphlang Sacred Forest, one of the most famous sacred groves of Meghalaya.

The forest is protected according to traditional Khasi beliefs and is renowned for its ancient trees, dense vegetation, medicinal plants, moss-covered stones, and unique biodiversity. A local guide is recommended for a meaningful exploration of the forest.

Continue towards Mawsynram, one of the world’s most renowned destinations for extremely high annual rainfall.

Upon arrival, visit Mawjynbuin Cave, famous for its naturally formed rock formations and the sacred Shiva Lingam. The cave is an important religious site for devotees and is also an interesting natural attraction.

Explore the surrounding landscapes and enjoy the spectacular scenery of the Khasi Hills before returning to Shillong. Overnight at the hotel in Shillong.

Day 07: SHILLONG – CHERRAPUNJEE (SOHRA) BY SURFACE – 60 km /3 hrs.
After breakfast, check out and drive towards Cherrapunjee (Sohra), one of Meghalaya’s most famous destinations, renowned for its waterfalls, caves, mist-covered hills, and spectacular valleys.

En route, visit Elephant Falls if not covered on Day 04, followed by Mawdok Dympep Valley Viewpoint, offering breathtaking views of the deep valleys and surrounding Khasi Hills.

Continue to Sohra and visit Nohkalikai Falls, one of India’s highest plunge waterfalls. The waterfall drops dramatically into a deep green-blue pool surrounded by lush cliffs.

Proceed to Mawsmai Cave, a natural limestone cave known for its fascinating rock formations and narrow passages.

Also visit the Garden of Caves, a scenic natural attraction featuring small waterfalls, rock formations, caves, and lush vegetation.

Continue to Eco Park, offering spectacular views of the surrounding valleys and distant Bangladesh plains.

Finally, visit Seven Sisters Falls, also known as Nohsngithiang Falls, a spectacular multi-segment waterfall cascading down the limestone cliffs. The falls are particularly impressive during and after the monsoon season.

DAY 08: CHERRAPUNJEE – MAWLYNNONG – DAWKI – CHERRAPUNJEE

Full-day excursion
After breakfast, proceed for a full-day excursion to Mawlynnong and Dawki.

Visit Mawlynnong Village, popularly known as one of the cleanest villages in India and often promoted as the “Cleanest Village in Asia.” The village is well known for its cleanliness, community-based tourism, landscaped surroundings, bamboo structures, and sustainable lifestyle.

Proceed for a short trek to the Riwai Living Root Bridge, a remarkable example of traditional Khasi bio-engineering. These bridges are created by guiding the roots of living rubber trees over many years until they form strong natural bridges.

Also visit the famous Balancing Rock, a naturally balanced boulder that has remained perched on another rock for generations.

Continue to Dawki, located close to the India–Bangladesh border and famous for the crystal-clear waters of the Umngot River. Enjoy the scenic beauty of the river and, subject to weather and water conditions, take an optional boat ride on the Umngot River on direct payment. Later return to Sohra.

Day 09: Cherrapunjee – GUWAHATI BY SURFACE BY SURFACE – 150 km /5 hrs.
After breakfast, check out and drive to Guwahati.

Upon arrival, check in at the hotel and relax.

Later proceed to visit Kamakhya Temple, one of India’s most important Shakti pilgrimage sites and one of the principal temples dedicated to Goddess Kamakhya.

Located on Nilachal Hill, the temple is an important centre of Tantric worship and attracts pilgrims from across the country.

Continue with a visit to the Umananda Temple, a historic Shiva temple situated on Umananda Island (Peacock Island) in the Brahmaputra River. The temple can be reached by boat, subject to operating conditions and river/weather conditions.

Evening experience: Enjoy a Brahmaputra River sunset cruise, offering beautiful views of the river, surrounding hills, and Guwahati skyline.

Day 10:        GUWAHATI – KOLKATA by Flight 6E 6729 – 1310/1430 hrs.

LEAVE KOLKATA
Breakfast at the hotel. Morning at leisure.

In time, check out and transfer to Guwahati Airport to board the flight to Kolkata.

Upon arrival at Kolkata, remain in transit for your onward connecting flight.
